To make any swim meet a success we need volunteers! There are volunteer opportunities for all knowledge and sill levels. Check out below let us know where you can help our team!
Each Home Meet requires the following:
9 Timers for each half (per team)
1 Head Timer for each half
2 Strokes and Turns for each half (per team)
Starter
Clerk of Course
Meet Manager
Referee
2 Concessions for each half
2 Eight and Under Helpers
Announcer
Each Away Meet requires the following:
Novice (Brand new to swim team)
Timers: are provided with a stopwatch and training prior to the meet. Please refer to the Timer Handout for additional information.
Head Timer: manages the extra stopwatches during the duration of the meet to provide to timers if they have an error with their watch. Trains timers prior to the start of the meet.
Concessions: runs the snack and drink area. Handles the payment (either cash or Greenfield Aquatics Venmo/PayPal) for the bought items. Runs the meals over to the coaches (both home and away coaches).
8 and Under Volunteer: helps the 8 and under swimmers get to their events. These volunteers will need to listen to announcements, read the heat sheet and gather the appropriate swimmers. This can be done by a teenager in need of volunteer hours.
Some Experience Needed (Been to a swim meet or two)
Announcer: works closely with the Starter and Clerk of Course to keep the meet running smoothly by calling all event check-ins to the Clerk of Course, as well as making any other announcements needed.
Clerk of Course: oversees the Clerk of Course area where swimmers report prior to their event. The Clerk of Course will check in swimmers as they report with their heat and lane assignments. The Clerk of Course will line up the swimmers in order and see that they report to their lanes in an orderly and timely fashion. The Clerk of Course works with the Announcer to call the events so that the swimmers can report to the Clerk of Course with adequate time prior to an event. The Clerk of Course determines if there is a need to combine heats and reports such to the starter.
Clerk of Course Helper: works in conjunction with the Clerk of Course to see that swimmers report to their lanes in an orderly and timely fashion.
Experience Needed (training provided and required by the RMAL)
Meet Manager: Sets up the meet entries for home meets and manages the meet manager program during the duration of the meet. Enters in times and disqualifications for meet scoring.
Head Referee: has the final authority for all decisions and questions during the meet and oversees the work of all officials, assigning and instructing them. The referee must be thoroughly familiar with all league rules, as well as meet procedures and the duties of all meet officials.
Starter: has complete control over the swimmers prior to the start of the race. The starter calls the swimmers to their starting positions, starts the race and indicates in conjunction with Strokes and Turns Judge, if any false starts have occurred.
Strokes and Turns Judge: determine whether the swimmers perform their strokes and turns in accordance with the prescribed rules of the league. Strokes and turns Judge sees an infraction and signals by raising their arm over head and writes the violation on the DQ slip provided.
